The Edge
Again, he ran to the edge like it was his first time being this far from home. That idiot ran 3 feet from the edge like he wouldn’t just fall right into oblivion. Raine wasn’t sure what fascinated him so much, but as far as she was concerned, looking down into that unnaturally orange core always made her uneasy.
Sopheim at sunset
Roan couldn’t help looking back down the path that led to the forest and beyond. The day always seemed to end too soon. Raine laughed and tried to get him to race back home, but he needed that last look first.
Raine loved sunset, and the dusk that came right after. Something about the stretching shadows always made her want to race through them. There was chaos in the vertical shadows cast by long buildings and the sun that peaked through. It was like two different worlds playing together like little children right in front of her eyes. Eventually dusk took over and there weren’t exactly shadows, and there wasn’t exactly light. It truly only lasted moments, but Raine enjoyed every breath of it. Some people recharged by sleeping, or taking a break. Raine came alive as the world of light met the dark.
